Ruth E. Smith, 95, of Chillicothe, died at 10:48am, Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1919, in Ross County to the late Claude H. and Cleo E. (Ray) Chenault. On June 10, 1939, she married Marion Arnold Smith, who preceded her in death May 1, 1976. She is survived by her children: Larry (Beverly) Smith, of Chillicothe; Nancy Anderson, Wheeling, WV; David (Karen) Smith and Claudia (Ron) Cockrell, all of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Donald (Jeanette) Chenault; a son-in-law Larry Anderson; and a grandson Jeffery Anderson. Ruth was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1938. She worked as the secretary and cashier for the former Huhn's Meat Market. She was a member of Tyler Memorial United Methodist Church for over 66 years where she a member of the Mary and Ruth Circle while she was able to attend. The family would like to thank the staff of 2NE of Adena Regional Medical Center, the Hopeton Village Assisted Living staff, and the members of the Mary Martha Circle of Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 2, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Rossman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon until 1pm Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to either Tyler Memorial UMC, 260 Mill St., Chillicothe, OH 45601; or the Salvation Army 171 E. Fourth St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
