Ruth Skeens

Ruth E. Skeens, 93, of Chillicothe, died 6:47 am, Thursday, March 27, 2014, at National Church Residences, Chillicothe, following illness.   She was born February 26, 1921 in Chillicothe to the late Louis and Ella Sharon Bower. She was married to Randolph F. Digges Sr. and later to Glenn Skeens, who both preceded her in death. Survivors include two children, William (Lynn) Digges, Chillicothe and Elizabeth (Dan) Digges Churchill, Pittsburgh, PA; a step-son, John (Donna) Digges, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Randolph (Lori) Digges III, Susan Digges Bowen, Laura (Jon) Hall, Missy (Greg) Digges Flannery, Gina (Doug) Digges Skaggs, Chris (Andrea) Digges, Melissa (Dan) Digges Corcoran, Matthew (Ashlee) Digges, MaryBeth (Joe) Maly, and Maggie Bornhorst; numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives she was active in, including Dick Stone and Sandra Stone Demel. Sandra lived with Ruth for several years as did John Digges. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren including Henry and Jonah Corcoran and Grace Maly. She was preceded in death by a stepchild, Randolph (Judy) Digges Jr.   Mrs. Skeens was an Ohio State University graduate and taught school at Lou donville, OH, Centralia (now Zane Trace), Tiffin and Chillicothe High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had been active teaching Sunday school.   Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. James Grove officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 pm Sunday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Church Foundation, Chillicothe.
