Ruth Neal

Ruth F. Neal, 93, of Chillicothe, died 10:40 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016, at her residence, following an extended illness. She was born February 17, 1923 in Chillicothe to the late Tony and Anna Antonelle Damico. On January 9, 1951, she married William G. Neal Jr., who died June 4, 2016. Surviving are her children, Joannie Neal, Bexley; Mike Neal, Steve Neal (Beth), Dave (Debbie) Neal, Bill (Diane) Neal, and Sue (Dave) Ott all of Chillicothe; eight grandchildren, Steve (Helen), Melissa, Mark, and Sarah Neal, Marie (Brandon) Gill, Patrick and Jon (Daniel) Neal, and Jessie Ott; and six great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Camden, Carson, Kennedy, Adalynn, and Braeden. She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Vincent (Evelyn) Damico, Ernest (Mary) Damico, Dorothy (Whitey) Wasinger, and Virginia DeLong. Mrs. Neal was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She worked with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary and the Blessed Virgin Mary Solidalila. She attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper at Midland Grocery prior to marriage. She later was an Avon consultant for over 40 years, worked as a cashier at Gateway Market and McCambridge grocery stores, and delivered a business route for The Advertiser. Ruth loved being with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting everyone she met, finding good in all. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Home Helpers Caregivers and National Church Residences Hospice Team for their dedication to the care of their mother over the past several years. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Peter Church with Reverend William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Haller Funeral Home and Crematory, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, C/O St. Peter Church, 285 W.
