Ruth Davis

Ruth M. Thurman Davis, 94, of Chillicothe, died 6:20 am, Monday, September 4, 2017, at Signature Health Care-Chillicothe.   She was born December 19, 1922 in Chillicothe to the late Floyd and Maude Ewing Thurman. Survivors include six children, Nancy (Travis) Greathouse, Hayesville, NC, Janet (Bill) Markham and Patricia (Sam) Cydrus, of Chillicothe, Betty (David) Gallagher, Columbus, IN, Michael Strennen and Nina (Kenny) Helton, of Chillicothe; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Thurman, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry; a grandson, Jerry; seven sisters, Violet Hickman, Bertha Schimpf, Mabel Byers, Maxine Good, Francis Gilbert, Nina Lever, and Norma Jean Knisley; and two brothers, Glenn and Richard Thurman.   Mrs. Davis retired at age 74 from Ross Co. Children's' Services as a child care provider. She was a member of God's Community Outreach church and a life member of Eagles Aerie 600 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved gardening and flowers.   Private graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
