Ruth Ellene Daniels

Ruth Ellene Daniels, 88, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, September 2, 2026 at her home.

She was born February 17, 1938, daughter of the late Ralph and Bessie (Russell) Hess. On March 30, 1957, she married her beloved husband, Freeman M. Daniels, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2023.

Surviving are their children, Gregory Daniels, Barry (Joy) Daniels, and Lisa (Harold) Dempsey; grandchildren, Nikko (Heather) Daniels, Travis Daniels, Destiny (Cole) Payne, and Gage Daniels; a great-granddaughter, Rayne Daniels; special sister-in-law, Mary Davis; her two good friends, Beckie Bryans and Elaine Irvin; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a graduate of Southeastern High School, class of 1956. In her early years, she was a proud member of the Cook Club, where she shared recipes with other members to create a local cookbook. She loved taking vacations, especially to the beach and to Gatlinburg with her family. She never missed any of her children or grandchildren’s sporting events or dance recitals and was always proud to be cheering them on. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the chance to know and love her.

In accordance with her wishes, a private celebration of life is being planned by the family for a later date.
