Russell Sever

Russell Larry Sever, 75, of Waverly, passed away on Monday evening, June 13, 2022 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born January 14, 1947 in Frankfort, Ohio, son of the late John and Helen Louise (Bowdle) Sever. On August 22, 1998 he married Alean (Williams) Sever, who survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Cathy (Scott Shaffer) Ward, Frankfort; a son, Russell Sever, Jr, Chillicothe; Step-son, Randy (Dottie) Ray, Waverly; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Richard Sever, Galloway, Ronald (Barb) Sever, Rodney (Beverly) Sever, Raymond (Brenda) Sever, Randy (Kim) Sever, and Robin (Joyce) Sever, all of Washington C.H.; his sisters, Carol Shepler, Linda (John) Evans, Janet (Nick) Sexton, all of Washington C.H., and Melody (Roger) Reed, of Sabina; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Sever; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Sever, a sister-in-law, Karen Sever, and a brother-in-law, Jack Shepler.

Russell was a graduate of Frankfort High School. He went on to serve honorable in the Air National Guard and later the Army National Guard. He began his career as a Corrections Officer and worked at CCI in Chillicothe from many years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and loved watching Horse Racing.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may join the family for a visitation on Monday evening from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
