Ruby Gragg

October 21, 1914 — November 22, 2009

Ruby A. (Miller) Gragg, 95, of Bourneville, followed her loving husband Bill to heaven on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at 3:32am at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Ruby was born October 21, 1914, in Ross Co. to the late Rev. Wesley Ray and Malinda Cottrill Miller. On April 10, 1931, she married the love of her life, William Gragg, who we sadly lost two weeks ago. Surviving are their 10 children: Donald (Debbie) Gragg, Frankfort; Rusty Gragg, Chillicothe; Michael (Darlene) Gragg, Frankfort; Jody (Kathleen) Gragg, Chillicothe; Margie Shoemaker, South Salem; Judy Stewart, Chillicothe; Janice Lytle, Bourneville; Charity (Fred) Steinbrook, Chillicothe; Mary (Barry) Allensworth, Provo, UT; Maxine (Don) Stewart, Ft. Meade, FL; 46 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Leona Boster; Eilene Marrick, both of Pickerington; Nina Sams; and Helen Taylor Tull, both of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by two sons Ernest Gragg and Billy Gragg; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. It is heartbreaking for the family to lose Ruby so soon after losing Bill. She will be sadly missed by many. Those who knew them, knew that Ruby and Bill were inseparable in life. So it is somehow befitting that she leave this Earth so soon to join him in Heaven. Ruby was a lifelong member of Shady Glen Church of Christ and Christian Union. She loved going to church and singing in church. She had a kind, generous soul. Ruby was very active in her church as a Sunday School Teacher and song leader for many, many years. She loved quilting, enjoyed making quilts for family members and even with poor eyesight, she could hand sew a straight stitch. When she could not sew anymore, she enjoyed stringing beads for her grandchildren. Ruby was loving and protective of her many grandchildren. She would pull them to her and say, "Give Grandma a hug," overwhelming them with her unconditional love. She was always quick to defend them and has prevented more than a few well deserved spankings over the years. We know she is up there in Heaven singing with the Angels. If you listen closely, you can hear her voice above the rest, still leading the songs. She and Bill are walking hand in hand, through those pearly gates together, where they have always longed to be. "Jesus, please take care of our guardian angel. Sing, Ruby, sing!" Once again, the family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their support and care of Bill and Ruby. Also, a special loving, heartfelt, thank you to Patrick Hopkins for all of the love and support. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, November 25, at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Cottrill and Pastor Marvin Leffler officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery, Bourneville. Friends may call from 5-8pm Tuesday (today) at Haller Funeral Home.
