Roy William Hinty, 69, of Chillicothe, passed away Wednesday morning, August 2, 2017, at the Genesis Nursing home, Circleville Center, following an extended illness.
He was born in Chillicothe on February 26, 1948, to the late Lloyd Leroy and Judith Ann (Cottongim) Hinty. On May 15, 1969 he married Beverly (Moore) Hinty who survives.
Also surviving are their children, Jacqueline Marie Hinty, of Chillicothe, and Jonathan Hinty, of Canal Winchester; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Hinty, of Chillicothe, and Xavier Hinty, of Canton; his siblings, Randy Hall, of Middletown, Janice Hinty, and Brenda Lynch, both of Chillicothe; a step-brother, Billy Williams, also of Chillicothe; a very special aunt who was like a mother to him, Eva Jones, of Manchester, KY; his mother-in-law, Joice Moore, of Chillicothe; a close friend and caregiver, Shirley Hamlin; his very special and close friends, Tim and Felicia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brother, David Hall, his half-siblings, Debbie Haubeil, Tammy Hinty, Mike Hinty, and Tim Williams, and a God daughter, Danielle Yoe.
Roy retired from the United States Army after honorably serving for 20 years. He and his wife Beverly helped start the Bainbridge Assembly of God church, where he attended before his illness prevented him. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, particularly going hunting and fishing. He also loved woodworking and was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. But above all else, Roy was a kind hearted man who loved helping anyone in need.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor James Gillette officiating. Military graveside honors will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. A visitation will take place on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. The family would like to invite family and friends to attend a dinner on Monday directly following the burial at the Chillicothe First Assembly of God, 2580 Western Ave., Chillicothe.
