Roy Clarence Burns, 84, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Roy was born on January 10, 1942, in Ross County to Charles Edward and Lucille (Wooldridge) Burns Sr. On April 9, 1962, he married Freda Christine (Oyer) Burns, and they shared 63 years together.
Roy is survived by his wife Freda, three daughters, Starla (Roger) Flautt of Chillicothe, Regina (Michael) Davis of Frankfort, and Cheryl Mendez. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren Chrisy (Kurt) Danison, Jonathan (Tim) Martin, Stephen (Kayla) Flautt, Ashley (Spencer) Meador, Nikki (Andy) Claytor, Mashell (Matthew) Hall , Mason Smith, Kyle Halsey, Chelsea Halsey, and Allison Mendez; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Aidyn & Chase Danison, Matthew (Carson) Martin, Nicholas Martin, Grace & Margaret Flautt, Jordan Thomas, Riley Claytor, Sheldon & Camden Hall, and brother Larry G (Sherry) Burns. He is preceded in death by his brother Charles E. Burns Jr. and sister Mildred A. Seymour.
Roy was a member of the Jefferson Ave CCCU church. He was active for many years with the F & AM Scioto #6, Kentucky Colonel’s, Aladdin & Ross County Shrine, the Scottish Rite, he was a Conceal & Carry instructor, VP @ Ross County Senior Citizens, and the Salt Council.
Roy was a Barber for seven years at Waters Barber shop. Roy then changed careers and worked 20 years for the Chilpaco paper mill until retirement. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.
Friends and family may call at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm following viewing on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, with Pastor Mark Clendaniel officiating. Graveside service will proceed to Grandview Cemetery.
