Ross A. McCollister, Jr., 88, of Hillsboro, died at 11:55pm November 24, 2005, at his home surrounded by family following an extended illness. He was born April 15, 1917, in Ross Co. to the late Ross A. Sr., and Ada V. Newman McCollister. He is survived by his sister-in-law Evelyn McCollister; nieces Karen (Darrell) Proehl, Madelyn McCollister, all of Chillicothe; Rebecca (Oakley) Nichols, Londonderry; a nephew Ellwyn (Teena) McCollister, Jr., Chillicothe; 3 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ellwyn McCollister, Sr., a great-nephew and a great-niece. Ross retired from the Mead Corporation in 1983, where he worked as a Machine Tender. He served his country in the Air Force during World War II. Family and friends may call Sunday from 3-5pm at Haller Funeral Home. At his request, there will not be a funeral service.
