Roselyn Anthony

July 15, 1930 — July 1, 2017

Roselyn Marie Anthony, 86, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017, following an extended illness.   She was born in Miamisburg, Ohio, to the late John Harris and Ruth Derosett Harris. On July 28, 1951, she married the love of her life, Jack Anthony, who passed in 2014. Surviving are her children Steve (Vicki) Anthony, Jeff (Vicki) Anthony, and Staci (Steve) Siddall; brother Mike (Wanda) Harris, grandchildren Katie (Eddie) Brown, Wes (Nikki) Beaver, Rebecca Anthony, Jack Anthony, Hannah (Dennis) Butler, Jake, Nik, and Samantha Siddall, eight great grandchildren, and one niece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Harris.   To know Rose was to know confidence, grace, generosity, and spirit. She could rock an orange lipstick like nobody's business, often leaving a persimmon stain on the cheeks of those she loved. One Christmas Eve, she brazenly hopped up on Santa's lap and asked for a fur coat. As benevolent as she was bold, she volunteered at the Stop Cancer thrift store and diligently wrote thank-you notes for even the smallest of gestures. She adored her husband, and merely tolerated his many dogs, even when they did things like eat her entire Harry and David's cheesecake right off the kitchen counter. She put salt in her beer and insisted on making grits every Thanksgiving, even though nobody wanted them. She made a career as a legal secretary, and made her spiritual home at First Presbyterian Church.   Rose built a reputation as a woman who was well-dressed, well-read, and well-traveled, fun-loving, big-hearted, and full of life. But above all, she built a lasting legacy of deep, enduring love: for her family, her many friends, and her community. She rightfully called herself a "fox." Others called her"mom," "Aunt Rose," or simply "Mimi."   A private family service will be held at a later date. Her family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heartland Nursing Home and Hospice, and to Rose's special roommate, Mary Seymour.   If you wish to honor Rose's memory, please write a thank-you note to someone who has shown a recent act of kindness. Rose brought so much of it into this world, and she was grateful for those who did, as well.
