Rose Marie Shoemaker, 87, of Chillicothe, passed into eternity at 8:24am, on Thursday, September 1, 2016, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born January 15, 1929, in Ross County, to the late Nelson Homer and Agnes Dorothy (Fink) McCarty. On December 17, 1946, she married Elmer L. Shoemaker who survives. Also surviving are her children, Ron Shoemaker, Tim (Carol) Shoemaker, Joe (Annette) Shoemaker, all of Chillicothe, Duane (Lisa) Shoemaker, of Columbus, and Bernadine Howard, of Chillicothe; Grandchildren, Robbie Tweedt, of Minnesota, Jean Wetmore, Rhonda Logue, Terry Shoemaker, all of Columbus, Brenda Shoemaker, Brandon Shoemaker, both of Chillicothe, Ryan Shoemaker, of Columbus, John Cutright IV, and Terry Howard III, both of Chillicothe; 7 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Mackenzie, Madyson, Brendon, Kasie, John Cutright V, and Addisyn; 2 great-great grandchildren, Chelsea and Kevin; 5 siblings, Bob McCarty, Fred McCarty, Bernie Duty, Teresa Williams, and Jean Horn. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Brundige, Pat McCarty, Bill McCarty, Kathleen McNaughton, and Rita Sanders. Rose was as life member of St. Peter Catholic Church and sang in the St. Peter Adult Choir for 20 years. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Aux. Council #1071, the American Legion Aux. Post 142, the AARP Local Chapter 4976, the S.A.L.T. Council, the Mead Retiree Club, and also the WIBC (Women's Bowling Association). She also enjoyed being a member of the Rolling Hills Garden Club for 20 years, playing on the Senior Citizen's Bowling League, and also being a volunteer at Adena Regional Medical Center for 40 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00pm Saturday, September 3, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
