Rory C. Jones, 72, of Chillicothe, passed away Saturday evening, April 15, 2023 at his home, following a brief illness.
He was born May 17, 1950, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Atlas and Virginia (Richardson) Jones.
Surviving are his three children, Ryan Jones, of Chillicothe, Andrea (Greg) Harmeyer, of Columbus, and Rolanda Walker, of California; 13 grandchildren; four sisters, Charilyn Jones, and Karis (Bill) Lewis, both of Chillicothe, Roseann (Charles) Cooper, of Springfield, and Anisha (Michael) Davis, of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Retha Simmons Jones, of Frankfort; his longtime companion, Kannika Yotkeaw; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as close friends Mitch and Chris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Atlas Jones, Jr.
Rory was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. He went on to work for the City of San Francisco, California in the division of Parks and Recreation. Following his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time traveling the world, and also loved to go fishing. He was also a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
A military graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery.
