Ronald Neff

January 8, 1947 — March 16, 2015

Ronald N. Neff, 68, of Chillicothe, passed peacefully surrounded by his family at 4:30am Monday, March 16, 2015, at Westmoreland Place. He was born January 8, 1947, in Ross County to the late Eugene and Mildred (Eblin) Neff. On July 27, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart the former Patty Cormany, who survives. Also surviving are their children: Carrie (Jason) Fife, of Chillicothe; Eric Neff, of Santa Monica, CA; grandchildren Cade and Madison Fife, both of Chillicothe; his brother and sister-in-law Donald and Carole Neff; sister and brother-in-law Margie and Don Thompson; and in-laws Richard and Pam Cormany; and Linda Cormany as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and in-laws Theron Earl and June (Voelker) Cormany. Ron was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1965 and the University of Rio Grande in 1970. He taught at Unioto for several years and then opened/operated the first franchise in Ross County of the HER Realty Co. He was a member of the Scioto Valley Association of Realtors, a member of the First Christian Church, served on the Unioto School Board and was a member of Chillicothe Noon Rotary. Ron was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather "Poppa", brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed living and playing with his grandchildren on the family property where he grew up. Ron loved the outdoors, sports and being part of the Chillicothe small business community. He was an avid fan, particularly following the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes and Unioto Shermans where he coached and assisted several teams. He was very influential in getting the Sherman tank placed in front of Unioto High School. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 19, at the First Christian Church, 268 W. Water St., with Revs. Julie and Alan Cory officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Ron and his family are particularly grateful for the kindness and care he received at Westmoreland Place over the past 5 years. Memorial contributions may be made to benefit staff and residents on "2 West" in appreciation for their love and care: "2 West Memorial Fund" c/o Westmoreland Place Inc., 230 Cherry St., Chillicothe.
