Ronald M. McCloskey, 83, of Chillicothe, died 9:25 am, Monday, August 20, 2018, at the VA Medical Center-Chillicothe, following an extended illness.
Ronald was born July 10, 1935 in Clarksburg, OH to the late Harley and Helen Pursley McCloskey. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth A. Schumann McCloskey; along with 1 child, Mark (Sheryl) McCloskey of Lucasville, OH; two grandchildren, Mitchel (Tiffany) McCloskey of Chillicothe, OH and Chelsie McCloskey of Augusta, GA; four great-grandchildren, Abbigail, Mason, Logan and Layla; the mother of his two grandchildren, Kellie McCloskey; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by four infant children, and a brother, Charles D. McCloskey.
Mr. McCloskey, also known as Shorty, was a US Navy veteran and the owner and operator of Shorty's Auto Parts for 25 years. He was a member of Scioto Lodge 6 F & AM, the York Rite, the Aladdin Shriners, and the Ross Co. Shrine Club. Most important Ronald was an exceptional and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by many.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday at St. Peter Church, Rev. Thomas Herge, Celebrant. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.
