We are saddened to announce that Ronald Michael Hay, 57, of Jackson, OH, passed away on December 13th, 2022. Mike was born in Chillicothe, OH, to Willard Ronnie and the late Patricia "Pat" Hay. Mike graduated with his bachelors of science degree from Ohio University in 2010. Mike was an active part of the communities he worked and lived in for many years. He worked at the Mead/Glatfelter paper plant in Chillicothe, OH for 29 years where he specialized in environmental, health, and safety. He became a certified firefighter in his early 20s and later became the Chief of the Jefferson Township Fire & Rescue. After that, Mike led the Mead/Glatfelter Emergency Response Team as Chief. Mike's most recent work was at Arcosa Inc. in Lancaster, SC. He was the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager. He led the company's EH&S efforts. Mike was a member of the Logan Elm Lodge #624 F & AM, was a 32nd Degree Freemason, and served as Worshipful Master from 1999-2000. Mike was also a member of Shriners International. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mike. He enjoyed being outdoors either golfing or fishing. He was an avid Reds and Browns fan. He also loved coaching little league tee ball and left a positive impact on those he coached. Mike loved chasing around his 3 grandchildren. However, most of all, Mike adored spending time with his wife and children. Mike leaves behind his loving wife, Dianna, of 23 years, and their children: daughter Dennale and son-in-law Nickolas DeFilippo; and son, Hustin Speakman. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Montgomery, Beckett, and Drake DeFilippo; his father, Willard Ronnie Hay and sister Regina Bapst and her husband, Wilson Bapst; as well as his precious niece Cassandra (Scrander) Bapst. In addition, Mike shared a special bond with his great-nephew, Bryant Coker. Also, surviving is a daughter, Tasha Hay. A Masonic Funeral will be at 2pm, Wednesday, December 21, at the Haller Funeral Home, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life with Pastor Mel Smith officiating. His family will be present to welcome loved ones from 11am until 2pm Wednesday at the funeral home, as well as at a wake following the funeral.
