Chillicothe

Ronald Gene Creed, 88, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully Sunday night, January 11, 2026 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born February 18, 1937, to William Russell and Hazel Naomi (Winkle) Creed, in Highland County, Ohio. He went on to marry his beloved wife, Carol Sue (Shelton) Creed, on May 29, 1961, where they created a lifetime full of love, happiness, and adventure.

Ron had five beloved children, Richard Bryan Creed, Natalie (Jim) Minton, Jeff (Tracey) Creed, Tony (Gail) Creed, and Nick (Wanda Campbell) Creed. Through these children and their significant others, grandchildren were soon added; Kara Creed, Matthew Conner, Seth (Catherine Ullery) Conner, Jessica (Alex) Vandemark, Caleb (Kayla) Creed, Takeo (Clarabelle) Creed, Alyia Creed, Bryan Creed, Nicole (Dana) Bullock, Derek Robertson, Breelyn Taylor, David Taylor, Caitlin Creed, and Alexandra Creed; four great-grandchildren, Emma Vandemark, Gavin Vandemark, Charlie Creed, and Kendall Bullock, as well as two on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carol on January 8, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers Charlie Creed and Kenny Creed and is survived by his sister Sandy (Tommy) Phillips.

Ronald was a graduate of Lynchburg High School, class of 1954. He went on to work at Lowes as a store manager for many years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, where he enjoyed attending services when able. As a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he took great pride in serving his family. Whether it was creating woodworking projects for his children and grandchildren or simply spending time with them watching the latest basketball game, he was all in. He loved taking family trips to the beach watching the waves roll in and enjoyed the quiet serenity of the mountains. Just last year at the age of 88, he took his first ziplining adventure through the Great Smoky Mountains and loved every minute of it. He was a man who wore many hats, but above all, he always put his family first and made sure they knew how much he loved them.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Friends are asked to contact the family for further details. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in his honor to Adena Hospice or Ross County Humane Society.
