Ronald L. Brooks, 78, of Chillicothe, died at 10:42am Thursday, September 2, 2010, in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1932, in Chillicothe to the late John Vincent and Stella M. Hickman Brooks. On September 20, 1949, he married the former Jeannie Miller, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Ron (Shari) Brooks; granddaughter Courtney Megan Brooks, all of Cincinnati; brothers David Brooks and Paul Brooks; brothers-in-law Howard "Corky" Miller, Chillicothe; Tim Miller, Springfield; sister-in-law Jo Ann (Bob) Welch, Xenia; half-brother-in-law Bill Fealy, Vandalia, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews including Terry Miller and Mark Miller, both of Chillicothe; and Mike Miller, Cincinnati. He was predeceased by brothers Jim, Dean, John and Bob Brooks; sisters Betty Haney and Margie Stubbs; and an infant sister Donna Lou Brooks. Ron retired on June 1, 1995, as a Plant Supervisor with the Chillicothe Telephone Company following 37 years of dedicated service. His work at the Telephone Co. was one of his greatest pleasures. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and working with his co-workers. Ron was an avid boater and enjoyed his many trips down the Ohio River with his many friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 8, in the HALLER FUNERAL HOME, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Corky Miller Scholarship Fund, c/o Ross Co. Banking Center, 222 E. Main St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
