Roger L. McWhorter, 84, of Chillicothe, is now resting in the arms of Jesus, reunited with his beloved wife Catherine, following a brief but difficult battle with arterial disease. He passed away at home November 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 27, 1940, in Chillicothe, to the late Glenn and Mary (Walsh) McWhorter. On August 7, 1962, he married the former Catherine J. Bennett, who preceded him in death March 23, 2015.
Surviving are his daughters: Rogenia (Richard) Chaffin; Cheryl Turner (Danny Wolfe), both of Chillicothe; Sondra "Sonie" (Roger) Butler, of Circleville; grandchildren: Ryan (Rachel) Chaffin, Richelle (Jon) Stewart, Jacob Turner, Megan (Garrett) Pluta, Alivia (Seth) Benfield, and Braeden (Haley) Butler; great-grandchildren: Rylee and Regan Chaffin, Jaxon Benfield; and one expected any day; and several close neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and brothers Richard, Jerry, Larry and Leslie.
Roger attended Brookside Church. He retired from the Mead Corp. following over 35 years of service. Roger kept active in his retirement owning several businesses and traveling. He loved spending time with is kids and grandkids, and enjoyed Sundays with family.
His funeral service will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday Dec. 4, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
