Robert Thomas

Robert R. Thomas, 83, of Chillicothe, died at 12:58pm June 23, 2011, in Pleasant Hill Manor Nursing Home, Piketon, OH, following an extended illness. He was born March 5, 1928, in Chillicothe, to the late John H. and Verlie V. Malone Thomas. He is survived by his brother, William Herbert Thomas, Chillicothe; sisters and brother-in-law Marcella Bussell, of Fairborn, OH; Donna Jean Sarber, Centerville, OH; Mildred (Robert) Schrader, Chillicothe; nieces and nephews Pam Miller, Diana James, Ronald Schrader, David Sarber, Terri Holmes, Michael Hines, and Jackie Schrader; great-nieces and great-nephews Marianne Franz, Lee Mortimer, Laton Hood, Anita Fugate, Marie Shim, Jeff Schrader; Kyle, Stephanie and Doug Holmes; and Chris Sarber. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law David Sarber; and a nephew Robert Schrader. Robert was a graduate of Centralia High School, Class of 1946. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. While he was a lifetime farmer, he had also worked at White Laundry and K-Mart. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and an expert at finding ginseng and mushrooms. He was a member of the NRA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 30, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 1 hour prior to the funeral at Haller Funeral Home.
