Robert Thomas

Robert Douglas Thomas, 77, of Chillicothe, went to be with his Lord and his son, Patrick, 4:23 am, Friday, August 12, 2016. Robert was born June 29, 1939 in Ross Co. to the late Weldon Davis and Freda Mae Thomas. On January 3, 1971 he married the former Jean L. Bentley, who survives. Also surviving are eight children, Bobby and Mark Thomas, Columbus, Phil and Mike (Julie) Thomas, Austin, TX, Jimmy (Tess) Thomas, Colorado, and Dan (Christina) Wolford and Regina Thomas, Chillicothe; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a brother, Lauren Thomas, Chillicothe; and a sister, Judy Maughmer, Gallipolis. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick, a brother Weldon Thomas and a sister, Janice Woodfork. Mr. Thomas retired from the Union-Scioto School District as a bus driver and a custodian, following 27 years of service, and from the Chillicothe Country Club. He formerly sang in the Trinity United Methodist Church choir. He loved standard bred horse racing, fishing and tinkering. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Dorothy Garnes officiating. Friends may call 11-1 Thursday at Haller's.
