Robert Jackson Runyon, 67, of Chillicothe, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born October 12, 1949, in Huntington, WV, to the late Robert Franklin Runyon and Helen A. (Templeton) Fox. Bob is survived by his significant other of 34 years, Clara Jane Throckmorton; children, Shelli and Troy Runyon; grandchildren, Christy and Grant Runyon; step-children, Kim Ritchie, and Charlotte (Peter) Karakis; step-grandchildren, Emily, Stefan, and Dimitri Karakis, Chris Evers, and Samantha (Brandon) Payne; step-great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Branson Payne; a sister, Sandra (Phil) Jones-Gordley; a brother, Charles Runyon; special aunt, Esther Reed; numerous nieces and nephews; his peanut butter cookie baker and loving mother-in-law, Nina McCallister; a special friend, Mikie Whiting; his dogs, Salley-Ann, Brownie, and Snubby; and his seven cats. In addition to his father, Bob was preceded in death by his step-father, Melvin Fox, a brother, Philip "Trill" Runyon; and a brother-in-law, Ronald L. Jones. Bob was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1967. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 30, 1969 during Vietnam and was honorably discharged on July 29, 1971. In his free time, he enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, collecting various pieces of glassware. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Landmark Christian Church, 912 Dayton St., Chillicothe, with Pastor Mike Cade officiating. Military graveside honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00pm until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ross County Humane Society or to Purrfect Companions Adoption Center.
