Robert Rowland

June 22, 1946 — February 3, 2021

Robert "Bob" Milton Rowland, 74, of Chillicothe, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a sudden and brief illness.

He was born June 22, 1946, in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late George and Marinda (Saultz) Rowland.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sue (Robert Spencer) Rowland; his grandson, Griffon Rowland Spencer; two brothers, George (Janet) Tyler, and Timothy (Carol) Tyler; three nieces he was especially close to, Melanie, Stephanie, and Beverly; his former wife with whom he remained good friends, Jewell (Parsons) Lallier; and extended family Amy and Josh Howard, and their children, Ashlee, Alaina, and Audrey, and close friends John and Linda Claytor, and Sue Weingard; former sisters-in-law Janet Wacaster and Judy Speakman, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Herman, William, Frank, Glenn, David, Thomas, Flossie Mae, and Marybelle.

Bob worked in the auto sales industry in Florida for many years prior to retirement. He also had a background in life insurance sales, as well as hotel management. After retirement he moved back to Ohio and he worked part time at Goodwill and then the Executive Inn. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Chillicothe, as well as the American Legion Post 757. He was an avid golfer who loved being out on the course. He enjoyed watching baseball, basketball and football, and also liked going bowling. But his pride and joy in life was spending time with his grandson and family.

He was a devoted grandfather and loved his time with Griffon from the first night Griffon came home from the hospital Grandpa Bob held him in his arms and showed him his first Ohio State football game.  Grandpa Bob loved playing putt-putt golf, tee-ball, stealing back his baseball hat and glasses and making cookies for Santa.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services at this time.  A celebration of life is being planned for outdoors this spring and will be announced at a future date. Bob donated to numerous charities so, in lieu of any flowers, please donate to one of his following top charities: Alzheimer's Association, Disabled Veterans, and the St Jude foundation or due to his heart, the American Heart Association.
