Robert Rounsley

Dr. Robert R. Rounsley, PhD, 92, of Chillicothe, died at 7:37am February 17, 2023, at Westmoreland Place.   He was born January 11, 1931, in Detroit, MI, to the late John and Verna (Clark) Rounsley.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan Technological Institute in Houghton, MI, and his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. Dr. Rounsley spent his career at Mead Central Research where he was named a Research Fellow and was affectionately known as "Doc."  Retirement followed his 30 plus years career. Following his retirement, he and his wife were able to travel to many parts of the world on sightseeing trips.   On March 7, 1953, he married the former Beatrice Fulton, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2015.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson Christopher Rounsley and a son-in-law Thomas Grimm.   Surviving are his children: Richard, Suzanne (Bob) Pohli, Pamela Grimm, Deborah (Joe) Partee and David (Kelly); 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.   Bob was a 50-year member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church.  He served on countless committees over the years for the church as well as with local charities.  Included among those and dear to him, were Habitat for Humanity where he served on the initial Board of Directors as the Walnut St. UMC representative.  He also was active in prison ministries at London Correctional Institute and CCI.    A memorial service will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: Scioto Valley Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 6125, Chillicothe, OH 45601-6125; or to NCR Hospice, 681 E.
