Robert Patterson

Robert Lewis Patterson Sr., 70, of Chillicothe, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at his home. He was born September 13, 1942 to George and Catherine (Viney) Patterson. On April 16, 1997, Robert married Betty Ann Smith, who survives. In addition to his wife and mother, also surviving are his children, Barbie Zeisler and Carrie Martin, of Chillicothe; seven step-children; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marquita Cunningham, Maggie Brown, and Carolyn Scott; four brothers, Mike, Icey, and Rick Patterson, and Frankie Harris; Two special friends, Mike Pauley, and Bob Banks; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his father George, and a sister, Karen. Robert was a member of the New Life Christian Church. He worked for PPG retiring in 2002, and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He was extremely active in the community, coaching football for the S.V.Y.L, serving as a Reserve Deputy, conducting the P.A.L. Boxing Program, and working with the Carver Community Center where he was a mentor to many children. He also enjoyed many activities including woodworking, fishing, hunting, and working with cars. In high school, he played for the C.H.S. Mighty Midgets, and was a football player. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the New Life Christian Church with Pastor Skip Cousins officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on the day of the service.
