Robert D. Park, 82, of Chillicothe, died at 9:15pm Sunday September 7, 2008, in his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday September 11, in the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Denny officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Bob was born September 29, 1925, in Chillicothe to the late Delvin D. and Amy Fay Holmes Park. On October 26, 1945, he married the former Theresa Langley, who preceded him in death on February 12, 1984. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Fred (Karen) Park, of Circleville; daughter, with whom he lived for he last 9 years, Linda D. Poole, of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Luanna (Peter) Dodson, of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren: Jeff (Cheryl) Holdren, Todd (Ronda) Holdren, Jerry (Tracy) Poole, Debbie Uhrig, Amy (Shane) Childress, Casey Dodson, Becky (Mark) Palmateer, Kim Dodson, Katey Bell, and Jenny Bell; great-grandchildren: Candy, Whitey, Erin, Tara, Erin, Katie, Brody, Freddie, Kasey, and Haley; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Willard (Dorothy) Park; sisters Janet Rutherford and Ruthie Hart; a sister-in-law Bea Park; special extended family Greg and Vicky Westfall; and Jeff and Diane Bell; and a special friend Ella Louise Tull and her family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers Foster and Ralph Park; sisters Grace and Carol; a grandson Chris; and a son-in-law Fred Poole. Bob retired from Mead Paper Co. in 1982 following 37 years of service as a Sergeant with Mead Police. While his health permitted, he was a member of the American Legion, Post 62; AmVets, Post No 4; and the B.P.O.E., No 52. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed any sort of sport, especially baseball. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Adena Health Foundation, Friends of Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe.
