Robert E. Newsome, of Cincinnati, formerly of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly June 28, 2005, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1947, in Chillicothe, to the late Elmer James and Willa Jean Menefee Newsome. In 1972, he married the former Marlene Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are his sons Robert E. Newsome II, Chillicothe; James D. Newsome, Gallipolis, OH; daughters Freda D. Banks, Orlando, FL; and Jean M. Newsome, Fayetteville, NC; 6 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law James (Kathy) Newsome, Columbus; Mark (Jane) Newsome, Chillicothe; twin brothers Tim Newsome, Columbus; and Tom Newsome, of California; and a sister Angela Kinney, Clarksville, TN. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Tina Louise Newsome. Mr. Newsome graduated from Bishop Flaget High School in 1966. He then served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a supervisor for the US Postal Service. He was a sponsor and member for over 23 years with AA. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00am Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
