Robert D. Gillum, Sr., 89, of Chillicothe, died at 3:38pm April 21, 2023, at the Pavilion at Piketon following an extended illness. He was born December 18, 1933, in Elliott County, KY, to the late Merida and Iva (Ison) Gillum. Surviving are his children: Robert D. Gillum, Jr., and his significant other Misty Oakes, of Waverly; Scott Gillum and his partner Kim Eberst, of Dublin, OH; and Tiffany Dyer, of Indiana; grandchildren: Chloe Gillum, Ava Ward, Delaney Ward, Silas Knox and Stella Knox, expected this fall; siblings: Jim Gillum and Delbert (Patti) Gillum, both of Kentucky, Charlie (Kay) Gillum, Gary (Debbie) Gillum, Sam (Sandy) Gillum, Emory (Diane) Gillum, Gene Gillum, Reeda Wolfe, all of Chillicothe, Grover Gillum, of Jackson, OH, and Molly (Ralph) Hamilton, of Leesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael Gillum, his parents; and siblings Paul Gillum, Thursa Huff, Tom Gillum, Floyd Gillum and an infant brother Johnny Gillum. Bob was the owner/operator of Gillum Excavating and Demolition and the former Gillum's Garage and Wrecker Service. He was a hard-working man that was exceptionally skillful with his heavy equipment. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Adena Hospice and Piketon Pavilion who cared for Bob. His funeral service will be held at 10am Friday, April 28, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Woody Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adena Hospice, 9 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
