On April 27, 1929 Ernest & Mary (Richardson) Banks welcomed Robert Eugene Banks into the world.
From a young age Bob loved watching westerns and wanted to be a cowboy. He made that dream a reality by breaking and training many horses through the years. He taught his family how to groom, saddle, and ride as well. We all have fond memories of spending many hours riding with Uncle Bob.
In his younger years if he wasn't on a horse, he was riding his motorcycle; always fully dressed in Harley Davidson that he kept in "tip top" immaculate condition. Whether Bob was riding a horse or a motorcycle there was never a shortage of admiring women. He was a handsome man with a big heart who never met a stranger.
Bob worked as a truck driver, cement mason, warehouse worker, corrections officer, and owned/operated with family "Bob's Place" restaurant in Chillicothe. God and Church were always important to him. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He lived a long adventurous life before succumbing to cancer. He braved that storm with dignity and rarely complained. Bob went to be with his Savior on Friday, January 19, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Carlos (Debbie) Allen, Tony (Alice) Terry, Petrea Terry, Robert Banks, Jr., Robyn Banks; stepdaughters, Wendy Williamson, Christine Gaston, Theresa Williamson, Katie Lowe, Phyllis Todd; special niece and nephew, Marketa and Ed Vannoy; and special friend, Mike Keeton.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Betty Ann Kelly, James Ernest Banks, Mary Lou Arnold, Beverly Johnson, Ernestine Stidoms, Sue Carol Lee, Ronald Bayless, and Carl Ernest Banks.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Carson officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
