Rita M. Rogers 89, of Chillicothe, died early Friday morning, October 24, 2014, at the Memory Gardens at Bristol Village after an extended illness. She was born September 4, 1925 in Johnstown, Pa to the late Andrew Phillip Schuster and Marie Ward Schuster. On July 9, 1949 she married Warren L. Rogers in Johnstown, PA who predeceased her in death on March 30, 1975. She is survived by her three children, Susan (Joseph) Schneider of Chillicothe, Daniel W. (Mary Jane) Rogers of Chillicothe, and Father Patrick W. Rogers of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Warren (Kerrie) Schneider, Andrew (Jennifer) Schneider, Patrick (Kathy) Rogers, Katie (Josh) McCune, Phillip (Bobbie) Rogers, and Alex Rogers; great-grandchildren, Brittney, Bridget, Benjamin, Raechal, Matthew, Victoria, Lucas, Audrey, and Summer. She is also survived by five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; her best friend Dottie Fogle and her kitty, Ginger Baby. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, P. Ward, Andrew P., and Fr. James F. Schuster; sisters Sister Mary Grace Schuster, OSJ and Marion Evans. In Johnstown, PA she attended St. Patrick Grade School, Central Catholic High School, and took dance lessons from Gene Kelley. She was a Red Cross aide during WWII. She met and married Warren after the war. They moved to Jackson, OH in 1954 when Warren went to work at the new Goodyear Atomic plant in Piketon, OH. She retired in 1990 as secretary of the Pharmacy Dept. after 20 yrs. at Medical Center Hospital. Rita was involved in many volunteer activities which included, being a brownie and den mother, volunteering at St. Mary's School and Bishop Flaget High School, St. Mary Church Parish Council, the Lazarus Committee, and Bishops Annual Appeal; the Ross County Board of Elections, the American Cancer Society, and was the Director of Volunteers at the Chillicothe Hospital. She also served as a hospital volunteer, on the Volunteer Council at Adena Regional Medical Center, as President of the Guild Association, on the Board of Directors of Medical Center Hospital Credit Union. Mother loved her God and her family. They were the light of her life. The family would like to thank her special care givers and friends, Linda Schadle, Pam Thomas, Angie Miller, Renee Hatton, Roberta Seymour, and a very special thank you to the staff of the Bristol Village Memory Garden. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am, Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Mary Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Thursday at Haller's, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm. The family requests contributions made to St. Mary Church Restoration Fund at 61 S.
