Richard Walsh

Richard "Stubby" Stephen Walsh, 72, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born May 30, 1943, to the late George F. and T. Odessa (Stevens) Walsh. On September 16, 1963, he married Sherry (Blakeman) Walsh who survives. Also surviving are their children, Elizabeth (Walsh) Withrow, Stephen (Jennifer) Walsh, and Rebekah (Richard) Olson, all of Chillicothe; their grandchildren, Josh Withrow, William Whitten, Gabby and Holly Walsh, Josh Walter, Abbie, Hannah and Rajianna Olson, all of Chillicothe, Caleb Olson, of Milwaukee, WI, and Tristan (Julia) Olson, of Athens; three great-grandchildren, Jade, Ava, and Camden Withrow; two brothers-in-law, Carl (Lynn) Drennen, of Ravenna, and Richard (Paulette) Blakeman, of Chillicothe; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Stubby was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Drennen. Stubby was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1961. He retired from the Mead/Glatfelter Paper Company in August of 2008. During his employment with Mead, he served as a member of their fire department, as well as on their Emergency Response Team. He was the former assistant chief of the Scioto Township fire department and was a fire instructor in Ross County for many years. He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church where he often ran the projection system for services. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers, Local 731; and a member of the Masons Lodge. In his spare time, Stubby liked watching OSU football, taking trips to Dollywood, but most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren participating in sports and other activities. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Rolsten officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 20th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Fellowship Church.
