Richard Reed

April 27, 1944 — February 22, 2008

Richard T. Reed Richard T. Reed, of Kingston, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2008 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. A Celebration of His Life will be observed at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Kingston February 28 at 5:30 pm, with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home. He was born April 27, 1944 in Massillon, OH. On May 2, 1970 he married Faith (Tricia) Van Etten in Nurenberg, Germany. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Colleen Drake; son Todd (Toya) Reed; and three very special grandsons who dearly loved their Precious Poppy, Devon, Riley and Connor; his parents, Margery and Glenn Reed; a sister, Mary Sue (Les) Herndon; a sister-in-law, Sara Black; three nephews; three great nieces; four great nephews; and two very special friends, Nancy and Joseph Seremet, of Plano, TX. Richard retired as a Registered Nurse from the Chillicothe VAMC and had worked at VA hosptials in Texas and West Virginia. He is a retired Major from the United States Army Nurse Corps. He had a total of 37 years of service caring for our county's military and veteran ill and wounded. He was a 40 year Masonic Brother of the Camp Knox Lodge in Kentucky and a member of the OES, Chapter 411, Kingston. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 2256, Circleville. He loved and served his God all his life and was active in the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Kingston. Richard was a caring person who loved God, his family, living life to the fullest especially traveling with his family and friends, and enjoyed sharing his remarkable handyman skills with his grandsons. He would always drop whatever he was doing to help someone who called needing something fixed, especially computers. His love, laughter, companionship, and support will be missed by his family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of his beloved grandchildren to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
