Richard Alan Kettler, 44, of South Salem, passed away early Saturday morning, May 16, 2026 at his home.

He was born October 19, 1981, in Chillicothe, son of the late Henry Francis Kettler and Madonna (Clayton) Kettler. On June 28, 2025, he married his beloved wife, Danielle (Shelhart) Kettler, who survives.

In addition to his mom and wife, also surviving are his children, Destiny Henry, Joshua Lawhorn, Wyatt Kettler, Chloe Kettler, Rylind Kettler, and Rosaleigh Kettler; step-children, Trinton Shelhart, Hailey Hinton, and Camden Merz; grandchildren, Ezra Scaglia, Sage Scaglia, and Ryder Lawhorn; his brother, Gabriel Kettler; nephews, Lukas and Ayden Kettler; as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Richard was a graduate of Paint Valley High School, class of 2000. He was an avid 3D archery fan, winning numerous titles through the years. He was most well known for his love of the outdoors. Whether it was hunting mushrooms, taking walks, going dirt bike riding, or kayaking, it didn’t matter. He also had a love for fast cars, motorcycles, watching movies, and his Mt. Dew!

A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life is being planning and will be announced at a future date.
