Richard K. Hart, 81, of Chillicothe, died 7:30 am, Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, unexpectedly. He was born July 1, 1929 in Vigo, OH to the late Charles E. and Clarice V. Burke Hart. On November 21, 1954 he married the former Gwendolyn Mae Williams, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Richard (Cathy) Hart Jr., of Minerva, OH; grandchildren, Emaly and Jennah Hart; a sister, Pauline (Charles) Gerlach, of Kenton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Corcoran; and a brother, Charles Hart. Mr. Hart graduated from Centralia High School in 1947; Wilmington College in 1951, with a bachelor's degree; and Miami University in 1963, with a master's degree. He was an educator, having taught at Wilmington College; Kings Mills High School; Clarksville Local Schools; Xenia City Schools; Belfast Local Schools; and the University of Dayton. He was superintendent of East Clinton Local Schools, Spencerville Local Schools, and Allen County Schools. He was a member of the Spencerville Masonic Lodge, F and AM; a charter member of the Lima Ohio High Twelve Club; a former member of the Ohio Association of School Administrators and the Sabina and Spencerville Lions Clubs; an ex-officio member of the Allen Co. Fair Board; a member of the Equity and Adequacy Coalition for School Funding; and served on the governing board of the United Church of Christ, Spencerville, OH. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Saturday at Haller's. Memorial contributions in the name of Richard K.
