Richard Lee Edwards, 76, of South Salem, passed away on Friday afternoon, October 13, 2023 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 22, 1947, in Ross County, son of the late Richard Harold and Freda E. (Calhoun) Edwards. On August 2, 1994, he married his beloved wife, Sue E. (Countryman) Edwards.
Also surviving are his two children, Stacie Lee Edwards, and Richard Dustin Edwards; two grandchildren, Alyssa Kay Meehan, and Colby Richard Meehan; special niece, Amy Lynn Downing; great-nephews, Jesse Ray; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Lou Aleshire.
Richard was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam. In his younger years, he was known for his love of playing guitar, and especially loved sitting around a campfire with family and friends. He had a love for his cattle, being outdoors, and watching the birds. He also enjoyed getting to go out to eat with his wife and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Adena Hospice group.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services. Military graveside honors will be held at the convenience of the family.
