Richard V. Cooper, 90, of Bainbridge, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at his residence. He was born December 30, 1924 in Ross Co. to the late Manford F. and Cora I. Hamilton Cooper. On April 27, 1948 he married Mildred L. Williams, who died July 10, 1989. Survivors include his children, Stephen (Bonnie) Cooper, of Latham, Randy (Donna) Cooper, of Frankfort, Nancy (Tom) Day, of Chillicothe, Jeffrey (Crystal) Cooper, of Bainbridge, Mark Cooper, of Bainbridge, Timothy (Lordis) Cooper, of Apollo Beach, FL, and Scott (Julie) Cooper, of Bainbridge; 16 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Bethel, of New Holland; 4 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Cooper, Mabel Penn, Helene Dunn and Judy Scowden; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings. Mr. Cooper was a US Navy veteran and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Schley. He retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as an Administrator on Duty, following 35 years of service. Dick won numerous trophies with his Model A and enjoyed driving it in parades. He was an avid attendee of the Paint Valley Jamboree and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a former member of the American Legion-Bainbridge Post and the Bainbridge Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, Pastor Sammie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Pennisten Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 pm Sunday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the donor's choice of charity.
