Richard H. Bradford, 92, of Chillicothe, died at 6:40am, May 9, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born March 8, 1931, in Portsmouth, OH, to the late Lynn S. and Edna L. (Sutton) Bradford. On May 27, 1951, he married the former Rose A. Hansford, who preceded him in death on June 14, 2002. Together they shared 51 years of marriage.
To this union were born three daughters, all surviving: Deborah Williams, of Chillicothe, Kathy (Steven) Schmidt, of Princeton, KY, and Robin Davidson, of Castle Rock, WA; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a niece and 2 nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Roberta Magill; and nephew Brett Magill.
Richard was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1950. He retired from Lockheed Space & Missile in 1989, where he worked as an aerospace engineer. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force and had been a member of Walnut St. UMC. He enjoyed running and cycling, even participating in the Tour of Scioto River Valley cycling race until he was 88.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 18, from 4-6pm, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Following cremation, military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard, will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, May 20, in Greenlawn Cemetery where he and his wife's ashes will be interred together.
