Richard Blakeman

July 21, 1947 — January 23, 2022

Richard W. Blakeman, 74, of Chillicothe, died at 8:02pm January 23, 2022, in Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief battle with COVID-19.    He was born July 21, 1947, in Chillicothe, to the late John R. and Mary A. (Miller) Blakeman.  On October 24, 1969, he married the former Paulette Preston, who survives.   Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Timothy M. (Lora) Blakeman; grandson Michael A. Blakeman; his sister Sherry Walsh, all of Chillicothe; his in-laws: Marilyn (Ronald) Rittinger, Naoma (Tom) Jividen, Phyllis (Albert) Willis, Paul (Debra) Preston, Wanda Manson, Michael (Teresa) Preston, Roger Preston; brothers-in-law Jim Downs and Herschel Speakman; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Jack Runyon.  He was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law Richard Walsh; and sisters-in-law Rose Downs, Carol Speakman and Tammy Preston.    Rich was a 1965 graduate of Chillicothe High School and served his country in the US Army Reserves.  He retired from Ross Correctional Institute in 2009 as Food Service Coordinator.  He had attended Lighthouse Baptist Church.   Calling hours will be held from 1-3pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.  A Private family funeral and burial in Grandview Cemetery will follow.
