Regina "Genie" Breiel age 84, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed on Sunday October 1, 2023. Genie was born on November 17, 1938 to the late William and Irene (Donahoe) Hurley in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Genie shared many adventures and traveled the world with her lifelong friends, family, and companion Gene Rittinger. She especially enjoyed visiting Ireland. They also enjoyed their time together at Paints baseball games, Lake White, and playing dominoes with friends.
She went to Catholic Central and graduated in 1956. Genie attended Good Samaritan in Dayton for Nursing School where she graduated in 1959. She was an RN at Chillicothe Hospital, Nursing Supervisor and Head Nurse at Adena Hospital. She also worked at Burger Hospital as a nursing supervisor where she retired in 1999. She received the Chillicothe Catholic Schools distinguished Alumni award in 2006.
She was predeceased by her siblings Harold (Ruth) Hurley, Basil (Nancy) Hurley, Doris (Dave) Spetnagel, Mark Hurley and Keith Hurley. She is survived by her sister Carol Law and brother-in-law George Law, and sister-in-law Bonnie Teitelbaum. Genie was the cherished Aunt of Diane (Dave) Muckler, Bill (Marylou) Spetnagel, Mike Hurley, Patty Hurley, Alan Hurley, Tim, Hurley, Ann Hurley, Nancy (Eric) Armstrong, Alex Law, Eric Law, Mary (Jim) Torretto, Shawn Hurley, Katie Hurley, Will Hurley, Neal Hurley, Keith, Hurley, Lisa (Tim) Clark. She will also be sadly missed by her many loved and cherished great nieces and great nephews, other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 61 S Paint Street, Chillicothe, followed by burial at St. Margaret's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Genie's name to the Bishop Flaget School Scholarship Fund, 570 Parsons Ave, Chillicothe, OH 45601 would be appreciated by the family.
