Raymond E. Meadows, 74, of Chillicothe, formerly of Portsmouth, died at 2:00am August 8, 2015, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born September 20, 1940, in Portsmouth, OH, to the late Samuel and Marie (Harlow) Fugate Meadows. On August 16, 2008, he married the former Ann M. Owens, who survives. Also surviving are his children: Deborah (Albert) Goins, of Rockwood, TN; David (Karla) Meadows, of Lakeview, IN; step-children: Chris (Shannon) Sexton, Chillicothe; Phyllis (David) Boyd, Chillicothe; Frank Caulkins, Waverly; 4 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; 7 great-granddaughters; 1 step-grandson; 1 step-granddaughter; 1 step-great-grandson; brothers Walter (Rosalie) Fugate, Greenfield; Ledel Fugate, Waverly; and a sister Melvina Hill, Waverly. He was predeceased by brothers Dennis, Jerry and George Meadows; and a sister Carolyn Grooms. Ray was a retired corrections officer with Madison Correctional Facility. He served his country in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion, Post 62. The family would like to thank Adena Hospice for their care of Ray over the past 13 months. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, August 12, at the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at Haller's.
