Ray A. "Jack" McCloskey, 77, of Bainbridge, went to be with the Lord at 4:30am Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in his home following an extended battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1934, in Ross Co. to the late Harold A. and Rita M. Porter McCloskey. On June 4, 1955, he married the former Dorothy A. Gray, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Ranae (Bryan) Stratton, Bainbridge; son and daughter-in-law Dennis (Brenda) McCloskey, Frankfort; daughter and son-in-law Eydie (Sammie) Cooper, Bainbridge; grandchildren: Caleb and Clay Stratton; Heather (Lee) Dunham; Hillary McCloskey; Mandy (Jeff) Smith; Jessica (Tytus) Gilliland; Maria Cooper; Tonja Grubb; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Louise Curtis, Florida; and Donna Nichols, Georgia; brothers Carl Reese (Carol) McCloskey, Chillicothe; and Dewey McCloskey, Athens; and a brother-in-law Paul Thurman, Chillicothe. He was predeceased by an infant granddaughter Kelsey Stratton; beloved grandson Jeremy Grubb; sisters Geraldine McCloskey and Annabelle Ramsey; and brothers James, Charles and John McCloskey. Jack was a retiree of the Mead Corporation where he was a welder for 48 years. He belonged to the Chilpaco Local 988. He was a faithful Christian and member of Storm's Chapel Christian Union Church for 40 years where he served as an Elder for 35 years and a Sunday school teacher for 32 years. He was a dedicated, hardworking family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, horseback riding, camping and fishing. He took pleasure from being around people and making them smile. He loved and was loved by many. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday at the Storm's Chapel Christian Union Church, Spargursville Road, with Rev. Sammie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the funeral Sunday at the church.
