Randy Dale Booth, age 53, of Circleville, passed away at his home on August 4th, 2015 after a yearlong battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He was born on November 27, 1961 in Nelsonville, OH to the late Robert P. Booth Sr. and Mary M. "Maggie" Booth of Hamden. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, papaw and friend. At the age of 17 Randy left home to join the United States Navy, just as his father had. He proudly served his country from 1979 to 1985. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA and Pensacola, FL and did 3 years and 6 months of sea duty aboard the USS Independence CV-62 aircraft carrier. Upon being honorably discharged from the military he began a career in transportation that spanned almost 30 years. He was a long haul driver who eventually became a fleet manager, transportation manager and safety and compliance manager. He eventually returned to his first love and started driving truck across the country once more. When he was diagnosed he with ALS on July 29th, 2014, he and his wife were traveling the US as mobile hearing technicians. Randy enjoyed traveling, photography, baseball, dirt track racing, cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the San Francisco 49er's and spoiling his grandsons. In addition to his mother he is survived by his loving wife Mary Kaye, his children Nicholas (Kayla Murray) Booth, Jeremy Hunter and Michael Hunter of McArthur, OH, Shalleta Haggard of Muskogee, OK, Caitlyn (Aaron) Kirk, Carina (William Sr.) Hickey and Jennifer (Eliot Nair) Hunter of Circleville, OH, his brothers Richard (Patty) Booth and Ronald (Barbara) Booth of Zaleski, OH, his grandsons Anthony, William Jr, Landon, Matthew, Lynx, Aiden and Ezekiel and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother Robert P. Booth Jr. The family would like to thank the staff at Berger Hospice, the Chillicothe VA Home Base Primary Care Team and the SCI&D clinic and the Cleveland VA ALS clinic team as well as the caregivers who came into the home to assist Mary in caring for him. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 8th, 2015 at Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe, OH, with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Zaleski, OH. Family and friends may call on Friday August 7th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday August 8th.
