Rachel Ida Freeman, 89, of Chillicothe, passed away at 11:50am on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Valley View Care Center, following an extended illness.
She was born September 3, 1932, in Chillicothe, daughter of the late William A. and Gladys M. (Rumpf) Dailey. On August 30, 1951, she married Charles Henry Freeman, and together they shared over 61 years of marriage before his passing on December 26, 2012.
Surviving are two children, Judy (Mike) Comer, and Charles Ike (Mary) Freeman; grandchildren, Mike (Carla) Comer, Melissa (Jeremy) Caldwell, Eric (Sky) Freeman, Chris (Kadie) Freeman, and Brittney (Nathan) Nulph; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, M. June Robinson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Briar Freeman, and Isaac Freeman, and a brother, Donald Dailey.
Rachel was a graduate of Huntington High School, class of 1950. She went on to work at the US Shoe Company from 1970-1986 where she retired as a cobbler. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe, and also a member of the Child Evangelism Fellowship in Ross County.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may join the family for visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service.
