Rachel Elliott

Rachel J. Elliott, 87, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 18, 1938, in Chester County, South Carolina, to the late A.J. and Mary (Melton) Porter.On August 16, 1957, she married Edward Elliott, who survives.

Rachel is also survived by her children, Jeanita McClure, Edward (Cheryl) Elliott Jr., and Alisha (Clint) McCollister; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Catherine (Robert) Sutherland, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mack McClure; and her siblings, W.L. (Lynn) Porter, Sonley (Vera) Porter, John Joe (Shirley) Porter, Alvin (Sharon) Porter, Dorothy (Robert) Melton, Lillie (Carlos) Burrell, and Betty Ann (Bill) Dietrich.

Rachel was a 1957 graduate of Paris High School in Taylors, South Carolina. She devoted ten years as a volunteer EMT with the Scioto Township Fire Department. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing basket liners, clothing, dolls, and costumes, and lovingly crocheted afghans for family and friends. Above all, Rachel cherished time spent with her grandchildren and took great joy in caring for them.
