R. Hall

November 23, 1963 — December 13, 2022

Roger Dwane Hall, 59, of Chillicothe passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.   He was born on November 23, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Roger W. and Julia M. (Lauder) Hall.  On July 16, 2000, he married Catherine M. (Jayne) Hall, who survives.    Also surviving are his two children: Julia and Conner Hall of Chillicothe; his sisters: Leigh Ann (Bruce) Baer of Loveland, Ohio; and Jennifer (Paul) Melvin of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mother-in-law, Cristina Jayne of Chillicothe; Brother-in-law, George Jayne of Baltimore, Ohio; Niece, Ashleigh (Aaron) Hoover; and nephews Christopher (Emily) Madden; Tristen, Aiden, and Bryce Melvin; and dear friend, John Campbell of Chillicothe.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Jayne of Chillicothe.   Dwane was a 1982 graduate of Portsmouth West High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a Master of Education degree from Ashland University. Dwane began his teaching career at Portsmouth Northwest.  He then moved to Chillicothe where he taught science at Mount Logan Middle School and then became a CBI coordinator through Pickaway- Ross CTC at Chillicothe High School.  In 2004 he transferred to Zane Trace High School where he remained until 2017.  He retired from Pickaway- Ross CTC in 2018.    In addition to teaching, Dwane was an assistant football coach at Chillicothe High School before accepting the head coaching position at Zane Trace High School. He was at the helm for four seasons (2004, 2005, 2015, and 2016).  Under his leadership, the Pioneers never lost an SVC competition earning the Golden Football all four seasons.  Furthermore, the 2015 team was the most successful in the school's history advancing to the Regional Championship in the State Play-offs.  Dwane loved the game and played to win, but more than that he loved working with young people on and off the field and enjoyed coaching them on the field, in the classroom, and on the road as he also taught driver's education with AAA for many years.   Dwane was a patient and loving husband, father, teacher, coach, and friend who leaves us with great memories. He will be dearly missed.   Friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.  Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  The service will take place at 3:00 at Haller's.  Burial will take place at a later date.     Memorial contributions can be made to: the Ross County YMCA at www.rosscountyymca.org/give ; Zane Trace Local School-Athletic Department, 946 State Route 180, Chillicothe, OH 45601; or the Chillicothe Cavalier Club, 425 Yoctangee Pkwy, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
