James E. "Pinky" Kelly, 87, of Chillicothe, passed away at 8:45pm on July 18, 2025, at Chillicothe Post Acute care center.
He was born June 25, 1938, in Charleston, WV, to the late Edward and Pearl (Ashworth) Kelly. On February 18, 1957, he married the former Janice A. McFerrin, who survives.
Also surviving are his children: Cheryl Rohrer, of Chillicothe, and James M. Kelly, of Coal Grove, OH; grandkids: Robert (Tara) Ferguson, Heather Gleason, Amanda Daniels, Shannon Kelly, James Carl (Phebe) Kelly, Brandon Wrightsel, Christopher (Whitney) Wrightsel, Casey Wrightsel, and Keah (Matt) Smith; great-grandkids: Kayla & Morgan Daniels, Jordan & Katelynn Ferguson, Kendal Kelly, Hunter & Cameron Smith, Keegan, Kaelyn & Kieryn Kelly, Clayton Ergle, Lacey, Mason, Cadence, Camden, Ryder and Rory Wrightsel; a great-great-grandson Sonny Jay Valentine; and his special cousin Veta. He was predeceased by his parents; his son Richard "Rick" Kelly; daughter Lisa Jo Wrightsel; 2 sisters; 2 brothers.
Pinky retired from Classic Brands and was affectionately known as the "Bud-Man." He was a member of Scioto Lodge No. 6 F&AM, the Ross Co. Shrine Club, the VFW, Post 108, the Navy Petty Officers Club and the Ross Co. Conservation League. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. Pinky was a people-person and loved to mow grass, not only at his home, but for several clubs.
His funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, July 23, at Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11am until 1pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
