Phyllis Van Hooser

Phyllis Ann VanHooser, 77, of Chillicothe, died 3:15 pm, November 23, 2011, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born March 14, 1934 in Chillicothe to the late Phillip and Blanche Kellough Beeler. She was a Chillicothe High School graduate. On December 26, 1952 she married Gary Van Hooser, and had four children. Phyllis and Gary traveled throughout the United States while Gary was in the US Navy, and eventually settled in Chillicothe to raise their family. Survivors include her children, Randy (Mary) and Greg (Bobbie) VanHooser, Kerry (Jim) Mankin, and Eric VanHooser; grandchildren, Elisha (Misty) VanHooser, Hillairy (Jason) Boltenhouse, Holly VanHooser, Shawn (Danielle) Mankin, Jamie Mankin, Jana and April VanHooser, Caleb Souders, Odessa and Phillip VanHooser; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Hannah, Daven, Brennan, Caden, Autumn, Brandt and Ava; brothers, Norman (Barbara) and Stephen Beeler; a sister, Shirley Heilman; a brother-in-law, Hal Adcock; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Beeler, Sandy (Ralph) Yingling, and Tula VanHooser; many nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Maxie. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nolan Brunner; brothers, Dick and Neil Beeler; sisters, Jean Wells and Donna Adcock; and brothers-in-law, Perry VanHooser Jr. and Dick Wells. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, reading, singing, and traveling to Florida. She was a fabulous cook and baker. She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, as they were truly the light of her life. She loved Jesus and saw her faith materialize before her eyes when she was received into His arms. The family would like to thank Adena Regional 2NE staff and doctors and Westmoreland Place staff for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Don Ringer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Tuesday at Haller's.
