Peggy Vinzant

Peggy Ann Vinzant, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday evening July 19, 2022 at her home, following an extended illness.   She was born August 7, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Dallas Shackleford, Sr., and Clyda Mae (Hogue) Shackleford. She went on to marry her beloved husband, Niland Larry Vinzant, Sr, who preceded her in death in 1982.   Surviving are her two children, Becky Ann Vinzant, and Niland Larry Vinzant, Jr.; two grandsons, Dr. Jeremy Christian Vinzant, and Christopher Anthony Vinzant-Frazier; six great-grandchildren, Tristen, Christopher, Daniq, Remy, Raquel, and Taya; three brothers, Dallas Shackleford, Jr., Harold Shackleford, and Paul Shackleford; as well as a host of extended family members and friends to cherish her memories. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicky Lynn Vinzant; two brothers, Will Grimes, Jr., Tommy Shackleford; and her sisters, Ruby Kelly, Mildred Christian, Barbara Price, Lilly Shackleford, and Birta Reid.   Peggy retired from the Kenworth Trucking Company in Chillicothe in 2010, following many years of employment. In her free time, she loved going bowling, playing golf, and especially enjoyed traveling. But her favorite thing in the world was getting to spend time with her family and friends.   A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Quinn Chapel AME Church, with Pastor Victor Davis and Pastor Obadiah Harris officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
