Peggy A. Hays, 77, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday afternoon, June 13, 2025 at Specialty Select Hospital in Columbus, following an extended illness.
She was born March 9, 1948, in Chillicothe, daughter of the late Charles and Patricia (Hupp) Maxwell. On November 12, 1971, she married her beloved husband, James "Jim" Hays, who survives.
Also surviving is her brother, Jimmy (Toni) Maxwell; her sisters-in-law, Joy Maxwell, Cherie Maxwell, and Sally (Marvin) Miller; a special close friend, Amy (Mark) Martens; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Maxwell and Chip Maxwell.
Peggy worked as a nurse for more than 30 years before retiring. She and her husband Jim loved going on adventures together, including primitive camping, traveling out west, and going mushroom hunting. She loved fostering wild animals for the game warden, and even received her falconry license to continue her work. She took care of numerous animals over the years including squirrels, racoons, skunks, ground hogs, and birds. She had a love for the Ohio State Buckeyes Football team and enjoyed watching the games with her brother Jimmy. She also had a knack for buying and selling antiques with her brother Bob. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Salem White Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
