Peggy Gallagher

Peggy Ann Gallagher, 93, of Chillicothe, passed from this Earth on April 24, 2025, after a brief illness.



Peggy was born in her Chillicothe family home on January 8, 1932, to Howard Lee "Duck" Acord, Sr. and Helen Louise (Chaney) Acord. Peggy graduated from Chillicothe High School in the mighty class of 1950.  She worked for the city after high school, and then eventually worked at the Ross County Treasurer's office for over 30 years before retiring.  



She loved her many dogs and cats over the years, her home and cabin, and mostly her husband Harold E. Gallagher, whom she married on June 26, 1954. He passed a month before their 50th anniversary. Their honeymoon was spent on their self-built boat, the "Peggy Ann," sailing down the Ohio River, subsisting on scrambled eggs and Vienna sausages.  She was a breast cancer survivor, and did not know a stranger.



She is predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Gallagher; her parents; her sister Louise (Jane) Click; her brother, Howard Lee Acord, Jr.; nephews: Thomas Theodore "Teddy" Click,  and Timothy A. Click; her niece Helen Cheryl (Click) Evans; a great-nephew, Ryan Click; and a great-great-niece Jessica Lynn Renee Click. She leaves behind her only child, a daughter, Billie Jo Gallagher; and many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews, all of whom she cherished.



A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11am on May 22, 2025.  Friends may call from 10:30 until 11:00 Thursday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 24 S. Mulberry St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.  Per her request, there will be no calling hours or graveside service.
